Fulham - 💛 Holiday Camp Round up Full of Blossom and Bloom

Our Week in the Forest
Such a beautiful round up to an amazing Holiday Camp. We’ve been blessed with glorious sunny weather, the Walled Garden beginning to bloom and blossom and as usual we’ve had a great bunch of campers who have brought new energy to our Fulham camp 🏕️ Here’s some of the fun we have been up to this week:

🎨 The sun is out which means one thing, you’ll always find the tub of face paint around. This week children were inspired by our Pirate and Treasure hunt set ups, asking for pirate face art. Others stick to their tried and tested, rainbow unicorns and dinosaurs. Others used creativity to merge together animals making a whole new species. “I want a sort of unicorn cat”… let’s see what we can whip up!

🐣 This week we took our foresters on the Fulham Palace Easter Egg trail, which turned out a lot more challenging than expected! We practiced our observation skills, our colour and letter recognition. We loved hearing so many, “Y… for Yo-yo” and “N… for No”.

🐓 On our egg-finding expedition we ran into Pete the Gardener who was tending to the chickens. He explained to us that the chickens get time to roam around the Walled Garden each morning before it’s open to the public. He let us into a little secret... one of the chickens is expected to have some more baby chicks soon. He will update me on the progress so we can monitor the babies grow. Dan then let one of the chickens out of the coop, holding her securely whilst our foresters got to stroke her gently.

🪱 We went mini-beast galore this week. We discussed how we will see certain mini beasts in colder and damp environments and considered where we may see these in such warm weather. Our little explorers had the idea to look underneath logs and wood planks - perfect idea! Underneath we saw centipedes, slugs, spiders, woodlouse and ants! We took out mini beasts finders and crossed off what we found as we went.

🎂 We celebrated a special birthday in the forest this week so got stuck into some Birthday Cake crafts, where we decorated layers of cake (paper) and stacked them on top of each other to create colourful and wobbly layered cakes with beautiful icing decorations. We celebrated with birthday crown making, birthday sing songs and face paints.
