Our Week in the Forest
Hello everyone and happy Friday!
We at Little Forest Folk Morden hope you’ve had a wonderful week - we certainly have! ⭐️
This week, we introduced a new focus for our fortnightly goal: physical development. This has been a fantastic opportunity to tailor activities around what our adventurers love most, using the forest environment to support and strengthen their fine and gross motor skills. One of the favourites was our obstacle course. The children had the chance to practise jumping, balancing and climbing all in one exciting activity. The highlight was definitely the jumping platform, where they could jump and climb together in pairs, making it even more enjoyable. It was such a hit that we decided to keep the course up for the rest of the week and incorporate it into our daily setups.
On Wednesday, we were delighted to be greeted by some sunshine, so we took the opportunity to head out on an adventure walk. Along the way, we spotted aeroplanes in the sky and the children made a brilliant observation noticing that planes further away appeared much smaller than those closer to us. We also took the time to stop and visit the ducks, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
Another highlight of the week was our mud kitchen. One of our educators transformed it into a “Lady and the Tramp” style restaurant, complete with spaghetti and colourful rice for a rich sensory experience. This activity linked back beautifully to our previous targets around communication and language. It was wonderful to observe how confidently the children communicated with one another and the imaginative conversations that emerged through their role play ⭐️
It looks like we’re in for another rainy weekend, but we hope you’re still able to make the most of the outdoors and all the magic that rain can bring ⭐️
