Wimbledon - Celebrating Lunar New Year, Pancake Day and Ramadan!

Our Week in the Forest

This week has been busy at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon! We have been celebrating Lunar New Year, Pancake Day and Ramadan! The children have enjoyed so many fun and exciting activities to celebrate all of these holidays, everything from fires to lantern making.

To celebrate Lunar New Year we had a fun tuff tray set out with noodles, tweezers and pots. The children used their fine motor skills to pick up the noodles using the tweezers and see if they could fill the pot. They then took the noodles over to the mud kitchen and added some ‘delicious’ ingredients to take to our celebratory forest meal! For this meal our little explorers also made paper lanterns. They chose bright colours and created the slots in the side to let the light through. This added to the wonderful decoration!

For pancake day we had a fire in the forest. The children all helped to make the pancake batter, mixing in bananas, flour and oat milk so we could have some delicious treats. Everyone then also got the chance to flip their pancake before tucking in to the yummy snack!

We have also celebrated Ramadan this week. We made light pictures using colourful felt pieces and decorated stars and hearts using bright colours.

It has been a fun packed week in the forest and we can’t wait to see what next week brings!!
