Morden - Expressive Arts and Design!

What a wonderful week we've had in the forest as we explored our new Expressive Arts and Design intent! The children have embraced every opportunity to express themselves creatively through painting, music, sensory play and imaginative experiences.

We kicked off the week with a fantastic barefoot painting adventure, where the children explored paint using their feet! They loved squelching through yellow and orange paint, creating colourful artwork together while discovering how colours mix. Our little gardeners also got busy planting marigold seeds using the homemade compost they helped create earlier this year. We can't wait to watch them grow!

Music and creativity continued throughout the week with a fun music station, where the children explored familiar nursery rhyme tunes using instruments and singing. They also enjoyed some independent face painting, expressing themselves with a rainbow of colours and plenty of smiles! Some children enjoyed a walk to visit the ducks this week, while others stayed behind to make delicious banana and chocolate milkshakes - a well earned treat on a sunny afternoon.

Our artistic adventures carried on with finger painting, where the children created beautiful butterfly and caterpillar artwork using their hands and fingers. Sensory play was another highlight as they explored colourful oobleck, experimenting with food colouring, water droppers and plenty of messy fun. Our Little Forest Folk-ers delighted in mixing colours, investigating different textures and getting wonderfully hands-on with the activity.

We were also excited to welcome a new educator to the forest this week. The children did an amazing job showing them around, introducing them to our routines and demonstrating everything that makes the forest such a special place. As always, they showed kindness, confidence and enthusiasm.

To round off our busy week, our little adventurers challenged themselves with obstacle courses, enjoyed peaceful story times in the shade with some of our new books, and made the most of the beautiful summer weather together.

It has been a week full of creativity, exploration, teamwork and joyful learning. We are so proud of how confidently the children have embraced new experiences and expressed themselves in so many different ways.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week of adventures in the forest! 🌳🎨🌈📚🌱
