Our Week in the Forest
This week our little wizards spirited over to Robin camp to have a bit more shade on these sunny days. ππΆοΈ
Our magical apprentices began their journey by designing their very own wands and wizard hats. They used measuring tapes to calculate the diameters of their heads. Then they matched the numbers they saw on the measuring tape to lengths of paper. After taping the hats into a cone shape, we were delighted to see that the hats fit perfectly! The children then used paint to create patterns and symbols all over their hats. π§
We then selected the finest sticks of Putney Heath to fashion into wands. We wrapped all sorts of colourful pipe cleaners around the sticks to infuse magic into them and topped them with stars! πͺ
The children used their wizarding gear all day to cast spells and make potions.π§ͺ
We also stayed cool with our colourful splash magic! We cut up a sponge and made colourful water. Then the children launched and splattered the water all over a fabric sheet to make a vibrant mural! The sponges made firework shapes when they threw them and made spatters like raindrops when they squeezed them. The children loved this activity and it kept them cool in the heat (although it did leave them looking like colour monsters). π¦
Our other activities included magic patterns, an apothecary station, and a fairy cove.π§ββοΈ
