Fulham - πŸ’› Our Little Bunnies and an Easter Obstacle Course

Our Week in the Forest

We hope all of our sessional children are having a wonderful Easter Break, it’s been great to see so many of you throughout the week having booked in for some Holiday Camp fun. We always cherish this time with our new campers, as each child brings a uniqueness to our camp, particularly when we have a larger range of ages. There are many opportunities for rich learning experiences when we have 5 year olds playing and interacting with our younger 2’s - magical! We are so supportive of their communication and social development. 🌈✨

We have welcomed Spring into the forest with our Easter Week! With a special focus on Maths, this week we practised counting skills and discussed routes and locations through map making. From Monday to Thursday, our Little Forest Folk-ers and holiday campers hopped into camp ready to explore every area in our wonderful forest site. We had a Rabbit tunnel consisting of two climbing frames made out of pallets and a hula-hoop with two long bunny ears. This was part of our challenging Easter obstacle course. Our little bunnies had lots of fun climbing, going down the rabbit hole through the hula-hoop and the pile of tires, balancing between logs and crossing different sizes of planks. While the little ones used the tunnel as their secret and cosy rabbit hole home, the oldest enjoyed playing Jenga for many turns!πŸ₯šπŸŒΌπŸ°

Our bustling mud kitchen has been the most exciting area of camp this week! And the main ingredient of our recipes had to be Easter eggs! We didn’t go shopping, instead we went on an egg hunt! We hid 10 toy eggs and our little bunnies had lots of fun looking for them everywhere on camp. They put them in a large bowl and while the little ones showed excellent counting, the oldest children practised subtractions figuring out how many eggs left to find. We gave them riddles as clues and they worked them out together to find them all!
What better way to celebrate Easter than cooking and preparing lots of chocolate treats? They took the eggs to the mud kitchen, opened them and filled them with chocolate mud and pom-poms. Some children became experts at making mud omelettes! They loved cracking the eggs on the edge of a bowl and pouring the mud content into the saucepan. We also made hot cross buns by moulding mud balls and putting them in the β€˜oven’! Yummy!🍳🧁🐣

This week, we started our new project of map making. We used recycled pieces of fabric and asked our little explorers to design a map of our forest. Some of them drew secret islands with plenty of details. From sea monsters to hidden treasures, what a fantastic land to explore! We also learnt about cardinal directions and how to use a compass! Also in our arts and crafts area we experimented with colour mixing by painting a giant rabbit. Some children decorated giant eggs made out of cardboard and also used them for another Easter egg hunt at camp! πŸ‡πŸ₯šπŸ—ΊοΈπŸ§

What a wonderful start to the Easter holidays in the forest! 🌳
