Our Week in the Forest
Another lovely week has gone by in the forest, filled with hands-on learning, creativity and plenty of fun!
This week, we placed a strong focus on tool work, building on the children’s skills and confidence. The children had the opportunity to use bow saws and palm drills, creating their very own wooden spinners - this was a big highlight and they were incredibly proud of their creations! It was also a fantastic continuation of last week’s work, where we practiced splitting wood using mallets. We have seen such great progress in the children’s coordination, focus and confidence when using tools safely.
Music has also been a big part of our week. With our exciting new selection of musical instruments, the forest has been filled with sound and rhythm every day. Our Little Forest Folk-ers have loved performing, experimenting with different instruments and creating their own music. They have been exploring how to match beats to their favourite songs, working together and building their listening and rhythm skills.
We’ve also been enjoying lots of games and physical play. “The Floor is Lava” has been a firm favourite, encouraging the children to think creatively and move their bodies in different ways. Another popular activity has been the egg-and-ladle race, where our little explorers practiced balance, coordination and perseverance - always with lots of laughter along the way!
As we approach the holidays, we’ve been learning about Easter, sharing our ideas and plans for the upcoming break. These conversations have been a lovely way to connect, reflect and build excitement together.
It has also been wonderful to welcome back some of our holiday campers. Seeing so many familiar faces return to the forest has brought a lovely sense of continuity and joy to our days. We’re so excited to have you back and to continue making special memories together.
It’s been a week full of exploration, creativity and connection - we’re looking forward to more adventures ahead!
