Our Week in the Forest
In a week where the elements have been against us at times, it is worth mentioning that our new children continue to settle in extremely nicely into Forest life, as well as our sessional children who have returned from their summer hiatus.
A big shoutout to our core group of older children who have been extremely kind and helpful to our much smaller, younger children.
We didn’t let the rain dampen our mood, in fact, we dealt the hand we were given and used the rain as a learning opportunity! We caught it in various different containers and discussed things such as volume and mass, before the children turned this into a competition about who had the most rain!
At times, we have sheltered under our tarp for a story when the rain has gotten torrential. Educator Sam used his storytelling skills to keep the children engrossed for periods of time, with a firm favourite being “The Hairy Toe” (a monster story with a fun ending!)
On Tuesday, we tied some guttering to our tarp so the rain could run straight off the tarp and into our tuft tray! Children then got buckets, cups and filled them up to use in our mud kitchen!
Our crops and plants have enjoyed the water this week, as most of our harvest is coming to an end. We have enjoyed supplying the kitchen team with our potatoes for them to cook with and have enjoyed tasting our homegrown organic carrots when they were ready!
We've had many great adventures this Summer and we welcome more of them this Autumn!
Wishing you all a great weekend and see you next week!
