Morden - ⭐️ Seeds, Sounds & Sensory Surprises, Understanding the World

Our Week in the Fores

What a joyful and adventure filled week we’ve enjoyed here in the forest at Little Forest Folk Morden! We were absolutely delighted to welcome back some much missed friends - both familiar Forest Folk-ers and returning holiday campers and it has been wonderful to see our community reunited.

Our focus this week has been “Understanding the World,” and we’ve embraced it with curiosity & enthusiasm. With the first gentle signs of spring beginning to emerge in our forest it felt like the perfect moment to plant our very first seedlings; sweet peas. Using recycled toilet roll holders, our careful and capable adventurers thoughtfully planted each seed. 🌼

Another highlight of the week was exploring different forms of musical media. One of our teachers brought in her record player, along with a collection of vinyl records and cassettes. The children were fascinated as we discussed how records are made and the many ways music has been enjoyed over the years.

Everyone was super excited to hear the bare necessities playing as this has been a favourite recently. But the clear highlight was The Sound of Music “that’s Maria singing”  …we may well have some budding record collectors in the making!

Alongside some great activities we had some set ups that allowed our adventurers to explore materials with different properties. With many multi-sensory materials and textures to explore, our adventurers had a wonderful time.

We also had a day full of celebration as we welcomed in the Lunar new year and pancake day! We learnt about the year of the horse and the different ways you can celebrate. We spent that afternoon making delicious pancakes which were very much enjoyed.

We are ending our week with an adventure walk to our local garden centre which everyone is super excited for. 🌼

We hope that you all have a great weekend and enjoy the last of the half term! 🌼
