Wimbledon - jump, clap, jump, clap!

What a wild week we've had with the weather! After last week's heatwave, this week brought torrential downpours and plenty of puddles. A huge thank you to all of our Wimbledon families for being so flexible and understanding during our weather-related evacuations, and for bringing lots of spare clothes at pick-up. Your support is always greatly appreciated!

To kick-start the week, the little ones continued exploring AB patterns through play and investigation. They enjoyed building and creating with small loose parts of different sizes and textures, and have really begun to embrace pattern-making - a concept that can be quite tricky to grasp at first.

Out in the forest, the little ones lined up natural materials to create repeating patterns, such as stone, stick, stone, stick. As the week went on, they expanded their creations using a variety of natural treasures they discovered around the site. Pattern-making also became wonderfully active, with the little ones creating patterns using their bodies - jump, clap, jump, clap! It was lovely to watch their understanding develop in real time.

Messy, muddy painting was another favourite activity this week, especially when we experimented with mixing colours together to create new shades. The little ones enthusiastically painted pallets, tuff trays, and even each other!

The real highlight of the week, however, was collecting rainwater from the tarps. Working together, the children gathered buckets of all shapes and sizes to catch as much water as possible. Some got absolutely soaked in the process, but smiles and laughter were everywhere. They carefully measured how much water they had collected and eagerly searched for every last drop from the tarps.

Although a couple of days in the forest had to be cut short due to thunder and lightning, our little adventurers remained calm and listened exceptionally well as they moved off-site safely and quickly. We were all incredibly impressed with their listening skills and teamwork.

Later in the week, the children enjoyed a special picnic snack out on the fields before heading back indoors. They felt very grown-up sitting together on the benches, and they were delighted to make everyone's favourite crumble when they returned to the Scout Hut.

Thank you for another wonderful week of adventures, exploration, and learning. We hope you all have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone next week!
