In a week where the heat got in the way of our plans, let’s take a chance to remember how we managed to improvise new plans to keep the children and adults safe!
At the start of the week it was already heating up, so we decided to invest in a paddling pool for the forest! We filled it up with our barrel of water and the children took their shoes and socks off and took it in turns to go for a paddle, 4 children at a time! Of course by the end of our splash session the bottom of the pool closely resembled more of a swamp rather than a children’s paddling pool (we can’t resist getting a little muddy in the forest!)
By Wednesday, we had moved indoors to be under the fans for the week. Our educators did a great job in planning indoor friendly activities to keep the children cool and engaged. We also had some tasty (and cooling) treats as on Wednesday Joel made frozen yoghurt lollies with honey and banana and then Jordan made strawberry and watermelon still lemonade on Thursday!
On Thursday, Shahana mixed some glycerin with water to make a big tray full of bubble solution, before submerging a hula-hoop to make a giant bubble structure!
We have done our very best to combat the heat this week and we appreciate all of our families’ understanding when we need to change our plans at the last minute.
We are very much looking forward to our normal standard of summer resuming next week! Stay cool everyone!
