The Wimbledon Village crew of Little Forest Folk-ers continued to grown in confidence and self assurance this week, as they proved to their educators that they could do all sorts of things by themselves!
Despite the soaring temperatures, it was shady and cool beneath the canopy of sycamores but that's not why we got out a huge selection of woolly gloves on Monday! We actually wanted to see if the children remember how to match them up and put them on. They impressed us with their agile digits and their perseverance, taking tips and tricks from seasoned forest school educators along the way. Everyone was very proud of their achievements and happy to spread their fingers wide in high fives.
Another important element of being independent is understanding how to take care of oneself and every morning this week during circle time we discussed how to keep safe in the sunshine and heat. Some children proudly carried their own sun lotion to the forest, while others were invited to call for water breaks over the walkie talkies. On one of the days when we had some of our play walkie talkies out, you could hear many instructions being relayed, to drink water, line up and wash hands!
We have had such a lovely time this week and are very grateful for our little patch of shade among the trees. Have a wonderful long weekend and see you all again next week!
