Wimbledon Village - Wellies in the Stream Adventures!

Our Week in the Forest

It was lovely to have our sessional friends back after a week away and we were treated to a huge array of weathers, all in one week! So we made the best of the blustering wind, showers and sunshine each and every day!

We took a lot of adventure walks during which we paddled in our wellies in the stream by the spring, voted on which direction to take at each fork in the road and tried to get our bearings as we moved away from camp, discussing where we have been on the common before, and what we remember from those places.

In between these expeditions, we have enjoyed lots of activities involving crafts, construction and exploring how things work. We saw an array of floral crowns, bracelets and gauntlets, a challenge to inflate tyres on World Bicycle Day and the construction of water runs on the rainiest of Thursdays.

We noticed that lots of the children were very interested in mark-making and even writing independently this week and we spent a lot of time talking about the books we have read - whether it was trying out some pirouettes after reading 'The Dancing Class' by Helen Oxenbury or talking all about individuality, preferences and things that make us happy, while reading 'You Choose' by Nick Sharratt and Pippa Goodheart, our story times were always very active and interactive!

We hope you have a glorious weekend, see you next week!
