Winkworth - Our Nurses, Our Future!

Celebrating National Nurses Week, 'Our nurses, Our future!'

This week at Little Forest Folk Winkworth we’ve been hard at work running the Little Forest Hospital in honour of National Nurses Week. The children have loved dressing up as Drs, nurses and tending to all sorts of emergencies.

If you visit our woodland hospital, you’ll first be asked to check in at the ‘computer’ but be warned, it gets busy as the phone is constantly ringing and sometimes ambulances are whizzing around bringing in new patients!

Next you’ll head to the waiting room, where there are plenty of books to read as you patiently await your appointment.

When called into the main room, the excellent, if somewhat junior, staff will tend to your every need with ‘kind and gentle’ hands and caring bedside manner. Be warned though as you will have to have multiple injections, medicines and stethoscope tests before your release! If you’ve broken a bone, you’ll be sent to our x-ray department, where the children will take photos or draw your specific injuries in chalk on black paper.

All in all, everyone has had a lot of fun and practiced some fantastic social, communication and gross motor skills along the way!

Extending the learning, our little explorers named, drew round, cut out and stuck shapes together to make a nurse. They were super proud of their creations and so were we!

As always at Little Forest Folk Winkworth, we also had some beautiful adventure walks, smelling the wild garlic and watching the woodland come alive with all the spring colours, busy insects and new life. After all, we all know how vital that dose of nature is to our health and well-being.

Until next week, take care and we will hope see you in the forest soon!
