Winkworth - Down at The Farm

Our Week in the Forest

As the sun shone brightly over Little Forest Folk Winkworth, 5 little ducks went swimming by.

We have been thinking about all the lovely songs and rhymes that we know this week and one way to keep cool was to set up an interactive 5 little ducks activity. We placed the little ducks in the top water tray and as our little explorers sang the song, the duck could go down the shoot and into the pond below. We also placed numbers in the tray to aid our little learners number recognition, in addition to the counting down in the song!

We have visited the ‘my clothes are muddy, muddy, muddy’ song this week too by setting up a launderette. Our Little Forest Folk-ers put the clothes inside the washing machine, making sure they added lots of soap and water and then turned it on to the correct setting. Once they were clean, it was time to put our fine motor skills to the test and peg up the clothing on the washing line to dry, for those still practicing motor skills, opening the pegs was a wonderful challenge. We also had a tumble dryer - eco-friendly of course, the Dry-o-matic!

The end of the week saw Little Forest Folk Winkworth down at the farm, singing the Old MacDonald song. This saw our little adventurers role play in the barn, putting on masks and demonstrating the correct sounds to role play different animals as we sang the song.

We also had a farm shop, where our little adventurers could buy local farmed goods. They had to use the scales to weigh the shopping before using the till and the card reader to pay for them. No farm would be complete without a tractor that we made with our spare parts. Everyone loved interacting with this and there was some fantastic turn taking too.

We can’t wait to explore more songs next week, have a lovely weekend!
