Following the announcement of our Queen’s award in April, we are delighted to share an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in May.
We’ve been bursting with excitement and now that it’s the Queen’s birthday and the official announcement day, we are absolutely delighted to finally share with you the news that Little Forest Folk has been given the royal seal of approval.
Following our being selected by Tatler as being one of the finest nurseries in the nation last month, we are now delighted to share with you an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in our Wimbledon setting a few weeks ago.
Well, this weekend was the long awaited Nursery World Awards! It was a fabulous event and we were delighted to be recognised in such a large industry such as the early years to be one of the industry leaders.
‘Wouldn’t we all secretly like to be Little Forest Folk?' We are incredibly excited and proud to be included once again in the prestigious annual Tatler Nurseries Guide.
If only there was something to write about in this week’s newsletter… oh wait, snow, snow, snow! It’s been a cold week, but the children have loved being outside.
The Beast from the East has struck with a real force through the course of this week. We have had some really beautiful weather - charming snow flurries, with bright blue skies.
What a windy, snowy week it has been here at Little Forest Folk. Our Little Forest Folkers were wrapped up against the elements (as were the Big Forest Folkers!) and bravely built snow houses, courageously collected snowballs and sledded their way down any incline that could be found.
The children have had a week full of creativity and discovery. We have been using laminated minibeast and bird spotter sheets over the last few weeks which have become very popular.
Welcome back to all of our sessional children. It’s great to see all the friendly faces again and hear all about some of the adventures that you have been on.
This week marks the start of an exciting development at LFF Barnes. From this week onwards, we will be adopting a nomadic style when using Putney Lower Common and will be changing our base camp on a daily basis!
Everywhere you look the first signs of Spring are appearing. Being in the forest every day you see the change of weather from freezing cold at points this week, to revitalising sunshine, which has a huge influence on the environment we learn in every day.
February half term week has brought some familiar faces from previous holiday camps back to our forest and it has been lovely to see how these children have grown and changed since they were last with us.
Holiday Camps This week saw the return of holiday camps, which are always such a lovely experience! It really is heart-warming to see our little forest folk-ers being so welcoming to all the new children (plus some familiar faces!).
The children noticed a change in our environment this week with daffodils popping out of the ground, and flowers starting to bloom on some of the bushes.
Everywhere you look during this transitional stage between winter and spring you see change. Being in the forest everyday you see the change of weather from freezing cold at points this week, to revitalising sunshine, which has a huge influence on the environment we learn in every day.
The windy day early on in the week provided us with perfect conditions to make kites. The children attempted to tie their own knots in the string and took their creations to the skies.
