We’ve been bursting with excitement and now that it’s the Queen’s birthday and the official announcement day, we are absolutely delighted to finally share with you the news that Little Forest Folk has been given the royal seal of approval.
Following our being selected by Tatler as being one of the finest nurseries in the nation last month, we are now delighted to share with you an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in our Wimbledon setting a few weeks ago.
Well, this weekend was the long awaited Nursery World Awards! It was a fabulous event and we were delighted to be recognised in such a large industry such as the early years to be one of the industry leaders.
What a wonderful week we have had in the forest! Despite the rain showers greeting us at the start of the week, our adventurous spirits remained undampened. Rainy days bring a special kind of magic to our woodland home, and the children embraced every moment, splashing in puddles, investigating the flow of water, and discovering the endless possibilities of water play.
We shifted our attention from shapes and patterns to all sorts of marks and prints this week as we set up lots of opportunities for mark-making of all descriptions. The children looked at a range of animal footprints in clay, flour and on paper and were on the lookout for horse, dog and magpie tracks on the paths into and out of camp. We used natural materials to make marks too, painting with leaves, printing with carved potatoes and rolling patterns into mud.
