What a wonderful week we've had enjoying the forest while making the most of the beautiful sunshine! With the warmer weather continuing, we've been finding lots of creative ways to stay cool while still exploring, learning and having plenty of fun outdoors.
One of the biggest highlights of the week has been our large paddling pool. The children loved taking turns splashing, playing games and cooling off with their friends. Alongside all the excitement, we also enjoyed plenty of quieter moments, snuggling up with books in our cosy tents and under the shade of the trees. It has been lovely to see the children choosing stories together, sharing books with their friends and enjoying some peaceful time away from the heat.
Our confidence and adventurous spirit have continued to grow on the big rope swing. After demonstrating excellent listening and safety awareness, we were able to widen our safe zone, giving the children the opportunity to enjoy even bigger swings and experiment with swinging in circles. It was fantastic to see everyone encouraging one another, patiently waiting for their turns and celebrating each other's achievements. The children showed great resilience and confidence as they challenged themselves at their own pace.
With the warmer afternoons leaving us feeling a little tired after lunch, we enjoyed slowing things down with some calmer activities. We spent time sitting together sharing stories, singing familiar songs and enjoying peaceful conversations surrounded by nature. These quieter moments gave everyone the opportunity to relax, recharge and simply enjoy being together in our forest environment.
Our learning about animals and their habitats has continued throughout the week. The children explored a variety of differently sized boxes, using them to create shelters and homes for different animals. We talked about where animals might choose to live and why certain habitats are better suited to different creatures. It was wonderful to watch the children's imaginations come to life as they designed homes and discussed who might live inside them.
The forest has continued to surprise us with its amazing wildlife. During our adventures around the campsite, we discovered some fascinating insects, including a large daddy long legs and a tiny green grasshopper. The children carefully observed how they moved and talked about their different features. Many of our brave explorers chose to let the insects gently walk across their hands and arms, showing kindness, patience and great respect for the creatures we share our forest with. These moments sparked lots of thoughtful questions and conversations as we continued developing our understanding of the natural world.
Throughout the week, we have been so proud of how the children have cared for one another, shared resources, taken turns and shown such enthusiasm for exploring everything the forest has to offer. Whether they were building, reading, splashing, swinging or investigating wildlife, every activity has encouraged curiosity, confidence and a love of learning outdoors.
As always, we're looking forward to another exciting week of adventures next week! πΏπ·οΈπ¦ππ
