Chiswick - Spring Around the Corner!

Our Week in the Forest

What a fun and uplifting week it has been in the forest! With spring feeling just around the corner, we’ve been soaking up the sunshine and enjoying spending more time exploring the gardens. The children loved feeling the warmth on their faces and noticing the little signs of change happening all around us.

This week, we continued our focus on emotions and the Zones of Regulation, helping the children learn more about their own feelings as well as recognising how others might feel. Through stories, discussions and play, the children have been building empathy, emotional awareness and strategies to help them manage big emotions in a supportive and gentle way.

We’ve also been incredibly active, working on building strong bodies and growing confidence. The slack line has been a huge favourite, with children challenging themselves to balance, bounc, and climb on and off independently. It’s been wonderful to see their determination and pride as they tested their limits and grew more confident each day. Alongside this, we’ve been practising on our balancing logs and working on jumping skills, supporting coordination, strength and resilience.

Learning has been woven into our outdoor play too. The children took part in a phonics scavenger hunt on the meadow, searching for letters, recognising sounds and linking them together in a fun and active way. This hands-on approach has been a great way to support early literacy skills while keeping learning playful and engaging.

Excitement is also building as we continue practising our dance routine for a special surprise show - stay tuned for more details!

A real highlight of the week was our special visit on Thursday from Stine, who came all the way from Norway to see us. We enjoyed a truly lovely day filled with music, shared memories, games and lots of cuddles. The children were so excited to have her with us and it was a beautiful opportunity to reconnect and celebrate our forest family.

Just a reminder that next Thursday is World Book Day! Children are very welcome to come dressed as their favourite book character and bring along a favourite book from home. Any parents who would like to join us and read a story are more than welcome - we’d love to have you with us for this special day of storytelling and imagination.

It’s been a joyful week full of movement, learning, sunshine and connection - we’re very much looking forward to more spring adventures ahead!
