Fulham - Aye, Aye, Captain!

This week in the Fulham forest we have been carrying out loads of great activities involving the natural resources around us.

We started off the week by making our own recycled paper out of newspapers. It was super fun working together to tear up bits of newspaper into tiny little pieces and then adding water and using our hands to mash up the wet newspaper into a pulp-like texture. Once we had created the right consistency, we patted it all out onto some container lids to dry.

Alongside this we made our own natural paint using water and mud and also some natural paintbrushes using sticks and leaves. This gave the children a new way of mark making which was both fun and environmentally friendly.

This week our Little Forest Folk-ers absolutely loved the pirate ship that was created using all of our wooden crates. Pirate roleplays popped up all over camp, and activities like this really do encourage and promote the children’s imagination which is great to watch!

Another activity our little explorers enjoyed used a section set-up with dried beans, pasta and coloured play dough, everyone had a wonderful time creating small mosaic patterns by placing the beans and pasta onto the dough. Some of our older children really understood and took on the challenge and were able to create some amazing and complete patterns.

What a busy and fun week we’ve had in the forest this week, giving our children the best learning experiences possible. So let’s see what next week has to offer…..
