Morden - Racing Wooden Toy Cars!

This week in our Morden forest, our full day children and easter holiday campers got stuck in with some tool work. Some children were keen to use their problem solving and creative skills and work out how to make their own toy car - the children measured the correct length for a toy car body from a fallen tree, then used the bow saw to make it their own. We used a hammer and nails to attach milk bottle lids to make the wheels. They were amazing! A few children made their own and raced them around the forest! Other children decided to saw their piece of wood to become an animal pendant which they could wear around their neck!

Maria’s cool fine-motor skill activity had children using their strong grip and control to use tongs to take small eggs our of the nest and pop them into the easter egg puzzle containing different colours! The children used so much concentration and precision to arrange the colours and treat the eggs with care!

We also had a really fun adventure walk this week where the children were encouraged to take their time around the woods to look for signs of spring we hadn’t noticed before - especially looking for nests which may be housing baby birds. The children explored with caution and care not to be too loud and wake any animals on their path - while still having the best time exploring!

We've had a wonderful week with our Little Forest Folk-ers and can't wait to see you all for more adventures next week!
