Putney Heath - A Week of Sensory Exploration!

Hello, forest friends! This week has been filled with blustery breezes and hints of warmer days which have sparked jokes about an early spring. Despite the winds, our Little Forest Folk-ers have been on a sensory exploration throughout the week.

Our curious explorers began delving into their five senses, starting with touch. They discovered the differences between things that felt soft and rough on the forest floor, expanding their vocabulary with words like glossy and shiny. Ears perked up to the beautiful sounds of the forest, with birds chirping and instruments creating enchanting beats.

With lanyards and play walkie-talkies in hand, our little ones transformed into forest educators, sharing important messages across the camp. It was a joy to see them embrace their roles and engage in imaginative play that sparked learning and communication.

Last week, our pond was frozen but now the ice has begun to melt, inviting curious minds to explore its ever-changing nature. The children have been fascinated by the transformation, observing and learning as the pond transitions from solid to liquid. The plethora of wildlife who live at the pond has been a treat to see, although a swan did get a bit crabby that children were playing near its home.

Our week concluded with a journey to the 'farm,' where our forest friends listened intently to the environmental sounds of animals. From the gentle clucking of chickens to the playful baaing of sheep, the forest echoed with the symphony of nature.

As we wrap up another week of adventure and discovery, we're grateful for the joy, learning, and laughter that fill our enchanted forest. Here's to many more magical moments in the weeks to come!
