Putney Heath - Terrific Tool Work & Spider Webs

We have had a wonderful week here at Putney Heath and the children have engaged in a variety of activities including some amazing tool work.

The children expressed their interest in using some of our larger tools to create their own necklaces and bracelets. Our awesome educator Conor led the tool work session and the children used a bow saw to cut a tree cookie off a big branch. Another educator was on hand to assist the children in using the hand drill to create a small hole. Once they had completed their tool work, the children decorated their tree cookies with some beautiful chalk pens and threaded some twine through the holes to create some truly wonderful necklaces.

Further into the week some of our children have really enjoyed counting. We had laminated cards from 1-10 and the children were tasked to peg the numbers up in order. The children worked as a team to negotiate where they thought the numbers should be placed and successfully managed to order them. The children then showcased their fantastic counting skills by walking up the number line counting from 1 to 10.

Later in the week the children were amazed to see that Spiderman had visited our camp. He left a huge spider web tangled in our trees. The children enjoyed climbing up it all day, finding different ways to move through the holes.

We hope you all have a restful weekend, and we look forward to more adventures next week :)
