Putney Heath - Meadow Adventures

Meadow Adventures

We ended last week with a big surprise! As we walked onto camp, we were greeted by a fire breathing cardboard dragon and all our Little Forest Folk-ers were fascinated by the creation but quickly decided to defeat the beast with some sticks. After vanquishing voracious dragons, we were all treated to a ukulele sing song before it was time to meet our parents.

We began the new week with some wonderfully windy weather, and we ventured to the meadow instead of the forest. For some of our Little Forest Folk-ers, this was the first time they had seen the meadow which made our adventure even more exciting! We enjoyed our snack in the big tipi tent before heading out to explore the open space. Some of the children enjoyed making kites with one of our educators and had fun flying them around the forest in the big gusts of wind. Other children were collecting mud and using it as different flavours of petrol at the fuel station they had created on the meadow.

The following day bought us more adventures on the meadow and the children enjoyed using the wheelbarrows to collect different things they found on the meadow. After many attempts, the children finally managed to dig up the big mysterious stone which was buried under the meadow. Whilst digging we discussed the length and weight of the stone and wondered what we could find underneath. Some children thought there could be a dinosaur house underneath and others thought fairies may live under there. We decided to put the stone back at the end of the day to make sure whoever is living under there stays nice and warm through the winter.

We ended the week with returning to the forest and the children enjoyed balancing on our big obstacle course and making potions in the mud kitchen.

We can’t wait to continue our adventures next week. We hope you all have a restful weekend!
