Putney Heath - Pirates!

Pirates!

We ended a fantastic week with some wonderful stories, including ‘Stick Man’. Whilst listening to this story the children decided to practice some knots by making their own stick man and other animals. We also did some wonderful wild cooking, and the children did some blindfold tasting. They had to use their senses to guess the fruit or vegetable they were given.

We headed into the new week, welcoming our holiday campers into the forest. It was awesome seeing some old faces back in the forest and was nice to meet some new faces too! We started off the week with some great role playing and the children enjoyed constructing a pirate ship, using larges logs and planks. The fearsome pirates made people walk the plank! Meanwhile, other children enjoyed creating some beautiful tissue paper mosaic artwork in the creative area.

The pirate fun didn’t stop there! Further into the week, the children enjoyed making another pirate ship. Only this time it was bigger and better, and more fearsome pirates joined the crew. The children worked together to decorate their ship using the forest materials around them and enjoyed looking at a pirate book whilst sitting in their ship.

We’re getting Halloween ready here at Putney Heath and the children enjoyed creating some incredible ground art. On a walk into the forest the children collected some amazing orange leaves and once in camp they used these leaves to create a huge pumpkin on the ground. Alongside this, the children enjoyed turning into wolves and howling around the forest.

We have had an awesome week here at Putney Heath and we wish you all a restful weekend!
