Twickenham - From Planting Sunflowers to Hunting For Insects!

This week some children had their photographs taken in the forest - it seemed everybody turned up on Monday with a bright smile and a fresh, new haircut! Families and children beamed with excitement as they sat with their mummies and daddies in the forest and had their photo taken, special memories were captured as the sun shone on their happy faces.

Another special visitor came to the forest this week too, to help a child celebrate getting his British passport. Our Little Forest Folk-ers hung British flag bunting, sang songs and ate delicious cakes made by one of our mums.

Spring is almost here with the weather kissing us on the cheeks with the sunshine. The children enjoyed the warmer weather and felt the freedom of less clothing as we have been able to fore-go the waterproofs this week and spend some time in our thinner layers.

Accompanying the warmer weather have been a number of plants and insects. Our little explorers have been looking at life cycles this week from planting sunflowers to hunting for insects. We all went on a hunt to find a number of fascinating forest creatures, from woodlice to worms, butterflies and bumble bees, the children carefully searched the forest and shared their discoveries with the educators. The giant wheel became an insect action game and children crept like spiders and jumped like grasshoppers, giggling with glee!

Sadly, we said goodbye to Mari on Tuesday and the children wished her all the best, embarking on her new journey. We also welcomed Hannah back to the forest, as our new deputy manager, which was wonderful as she got to see some new and familiar faces.

As always, we felt the warmth on our faces and in our hearts as we spent an eventful week with our families, children and educators.

We look forward to what next week will bring!
