Twickenham - Literary Wonderland!

This week in the forest, we let our imaginations run wild. We enjoyed listening to stories of our favourite writers and looking at the beautiful illustrations in books which inspired us to make up our very own stories.

The forest transformed into a literary wonderland where we had all kinds of props and costumes to bring our stories to life. We had a wonderful time going on our very own bear hunt - but not just any ordinary bear hunt! We were looking for our missing bear friend. Armed with our binoculars and a well packed kit, we looked over the map he left us as a clue to help us find our way to his secret hiding place. We swam across the river, where we were met with all kinds of interesting fish who helped us dodge the grumpy old crocodile. We were bravely fighting our way through a blustery snowstorm and then ran into a group of polar bears who helped us find our way through the storm. We got stuck in thick oozy mud, but we were saved by giants who picked us up with their cranes. Finally, we found the bear cave where it was really dark. The stars glowed to show us a path to where our missing bear friend lay, asleep in his cosy bed.

The next day, the forest transformed into a river. We made sure our wellies and waterproofs were on snugly, so we were ready for our fishing trip. First, we made sure our boat was freshly painted and applied with a special waterproof varnish before setting sail. We rowed across the seven seas, meeting some friends along the way. We had a run in with the pirate king who chased us, believing we had his special treasure. It turned out he and his crew were quite nice even though they looked fierce and ferocious. After a morning at sea, we rested under the shade of a large canopy to get dry and listen to the tale of Harry, the kindest mouse in the world. We thought about our special forest rule of being kind and gentle and learned different ways to help others.

Our imaginations took us on another adventure where we became knights of the castle. With our shield and sword, we were ready to save the dragon princess who was locked up inside a crane. We found the crane tower hidden deep in the forest, but it was heavily guarded by a pirate, a superhero, and an evil knight! We tricked them, by distracting them with our amazing sword handling tricks, while the other knights climbed up the crane to save the princess.

In another part of the forest, our friends were going on holiday and they were very excited to take the train to get to their destination. We waited in Twickenham station for the train, and we were very excited to buy tickets from the station master especially because they were on sale. We boarded the train and had a nice cup of tea and chocolate cake from the snack trolley. Just as we were about to have a snooze, some very stern people came onboard who had a flashy badge and a serious looking notepad. They said, “we are the transport police, and we are checking tickets”. We quickly showed them our tickets and when they left, we were finally able to enjoy our afternoon nap.

We had a lot of fun bringing our imaginative stories to life. We’ll be back next time with more stories of our adventures in the forest!
