Twickenham - Musical Afternoons!

In true British fashion, the weather has given us a range of seasons throughout each day this week. The mornings have been filled with rosy cheeks and cloudy skies with some glimmers of sun throughout the day. The children have spotted more insects coming out to explore the forest, in particular a giant leopard slug and some very cheerful robins.

This week we had some new friends visit us in the forest for their settling session, and we’re very excited that they’ll be joining us for their full-length sessions very soon. Holiday campers have returned for another week of fun too and some familiar faces have returned from their Easter getaways and popped in to play.

This week the children have been exploring sounds through a range of musical instruments. Miranda brought in her Tibetan singing bowls and the children were soothed by the peaceful sounds. During the rainy afternoons we sang songs with the chirpy robins and read books to each other under fluffy blankets. The children strummed the ukulele, shook the maracas, and sang joyfully whilst playing the tambourine.

The resources lent themselves to a lot of kindness and encouragement between children. They waited patiently as their friends used the big and little swing and the educators heard a lot of “you can do it” “are you okay” “it’s okay you can go first” as our Little Forest Folk-ers supported their friends on the climbing apparatus. The children have been testing their strength, balance and coordination, growing in confidence and supporting each other as they face these challenging obstacle courses. Our hearts sang as we observed our little explorers working together to create safe and fun opportunities to climb. They held each other's hands as they walked carefully along the obstacle course and then leapt off the crates together in glee.

We are grateful that mother nature has blessed us with a few more days of sunshine. It’s been a special week and we look forward to exploring more next week!
