Wandsworth - Winter is Coming!

There's been a definitive chill across the camp this week. Regardless, we’re deeply pleased to say that it seems to have had little effect on the children's spirits. The wooden platforms took center stage one afternoon as the children played a great game of 'The Floor is Lava.’ With our educators, Sam and Simon, conducting the game, the children went into a state of euphoria. Frantically they laughed as they scattered about the pads, avoiding the ground with all haste. The game went on for a long time before evolving into more of an outdoor forest disco. No better way to keep warm than stomping and dancing, for sure!

Dan led us on a short but eventful adventure walk through the thickets and brambles, away from the main routes. It was brilliant. The children really enjoyed the walk and we were even lucky enough to stand by the path as three handsome horses trotted by, atop of them were their riders who gave us all a warm and friendly wave as they passed. There were a lot of rabbit holes and prickly nettles to avoid along the journey but the children were exemplary explorers and navigated around them all! Before we knew it, we were back at the camp! A terrific walk! Well done, children!

The children have gotten a lot of use out of the new swing! It's a great improvement and the digging area is seeing more action than ever. With the expansion of the camp, the possibilities for 'Hide and Seek’ have expanded too! The children have really enjoyed the extra space and have hidden behind trees they couldn't access before. The children did some great counting for the game and wonderful turn taking too.

We've had a lot of stories in the tent, away from the wind. Such classics as 'The Highway Rat' and 'The Gruffalo' had the children requesting further readings!

Another week has come and gone. We're glad to see the children remaining so happy in the creeping frost. We look forward to playing, nurturing and laughing with the children once again next week. Until then, have a great weekend everyone.
