Wimbledon - Bird Feeders and Chef Day!

This week has been full of fun and exciting activities for our Bunnies and Foxes here at Wimbledon. Due to the storm earlier on in the week, we stayed at the scout hut, but this did not stop us having lots of fun!

We continued our forest nursery routine with some tool work. The children have really loved using the binoculars in recent weeks to search for the birds they can hear, so for our tool work this week the children made bird feeders. They used a palm drill to drill holes into some logs that we were able to harvest from the storm’s aftermath. The children showed great determination and perseverance with their drilling. They worked with the educators to drill excellent holes that we later will put a vegetable suet and bird seed combination into. The children loved this activity as they have such a great understanding of protecting our wildlife and the impact they can positively have on it.

Another highlight of our week was our themed day - chef day! The educators worked hard to organise a mud kitchen day with props and tools to help capture the children’s imagination. Our little adventurers loved it! Foxes had a till made from cardboard ready to accept money in the form of wood cookie coins. It was tremendous to see their play evolve over the day; job roles were handed out and executed excellently. We had waiters, chefs, bakers, customers and even cashiers ready to count the money made throughout the day. A customer even rated the Bunny Cafe 5*!

What another wonderful week it has been, we hope you all have a lovely restful weekend!
