Wimbledon - Happy Lunar New Year!

This week Little Forest Folk Wimbledon have been celebrating the Lunar New Year, and it has been great looking at different celebrations and traditions and learning all about them.

One of our favourite activities was making paper lanterns to represent the lanterns used in the new year celebrations. We have also looked at different books telling us about the different ways people around the world celebrate, which has led to some wonderful discussions between our little explorers and their friends.

Another way we included Lunar New Year into our week was on our cooking day. We prepared some noodles, and all had a lot of fun experimenting with using chop sticks. It was fascinating to learn how the noodles represent long life whilst also enjoying the noodles as a yummy treat!

Along with all the celebrations we have also done some tool work this week, each having the opportunity to make our own individual tree cookies. Some of our Little Forest Folk-ers painted theirs and incorporated them into their play, and others kept them safe to give them as presents to family - such a lovely gift!

It has been a wonderful week and may good luck and fortune fall upon you all.
