Fulham - Dinosaur Island!

We started off our week in the forest with an amazing small world dinosaur island. The children really enjoyed the way the educators used and recycled some avocado skins as dinosaur eggs and how the big dinosaurs were guarding and protecting the baby dinosaur eggs waiting for the babies to hatch. We believe here in Fulham that role play and make believe is a big part of how children learn and explore so this activity was great!

Sticking with the recycling theme, cardboard templates of the world were provided for the children to decorate. For the water, we used blue paints and our older friends in the forest came up with an amazing idea to use leaves and grass around camp to stick on as the land. This then had our Little Forest Folk-ers searching round camp for the most amazing green leaves which were also used in our creative fun.

To encourage more number language and communication this week, we turned our mud kitchen into a pizza shop. The children used cardboard ovens and pizzas and had the opportunity to sell each other their amazing little pizza creations. They had fun stirring all the toppings in large bowls and then using language and numbers in their role play to sell to each other. We most definitely have ourselves some little apprentices on our hands here as they were able to sell the most unique pizzas - one being chocolate and cheese… yuk!

We have had some lovely weather this week in Fulham and to start off our spring activities we embarked on a lovely live-drawing activity. We are very lucky to be based in the lovely Fulham Palace Gardens with the most beautiful scenery and flowers. After finding some gorgeous daffodils, we took some pens, paper and clipboards and sat amongst them and attempted to draw what we could see, which created the most awesome pictures of the flowers (most definitely a proud educator moment from us here at Fulham!)

Now our week has come to a close we are excited to see all the learning opportunities and adventures we will get up to next week here in Fulham!
