Fulham - Kitchen Towel Caterpillars!

This week in our Fulham forest it has been amazing welcoming some new friends into camp and having lots of fun with them whilst they settle into forest life.

Everyone has been really excited this week by some gifts that one of our educators brought back from her holiday. The children have had a wonderful time exploring the number and alphabet puzzles, using the time to get some good counting practice in and practice the different sounds and phonics of the alphabet.

We have been working on our fine motor skills too this week, by making some colourful bead bracelets and necklaces. The children have all worked really hard to thread each of their chosen beads onto their pieces of string in order to create all sorts of colourful patterns.

A great little experiment took place towards the end of the week where the children got to design and make their own kitchen towel caterpillars. Once they’d decorated their square of kitchen towel with an array of beautiful colours, the children wrapped it around a small stick, squishing it together, and next was the fun part….. slowly they poured some water over their individual caterpillars and watched closely as the caterpillars expanded, wriggled and moved, showing the bright colours underneath 🐛

Our Little Forest Folk-ers have also been getting green fingered as a great green house was created on camp this week. The children could explore using shovels, compost and flowers to plant and create amazing vegetable patches 🪴🌻👩‍🌾🥕

Coming to the end of our week in the forest, we here at Fulham are all super excited to find out what adventures we will get up to in the forest next week, we hope you have a wonderful weekend!
