Wandsworth - Making Mud Birthday Cakes!

As the sun sets on another week of our second summer, we are grateful for this continuous warmth!

Water play has been aplenty, from making mud birthday cakes for one of our mini explorer’s fourth birthday, to a water hoist activity using a pulley clip to activate some paracord that is attached to a bucket of water, we attempted to reinvent our water play area to create a more physical challenge to our children.

Ice cream role-play using spoons to fill our wooden cones was a big focus point amongst our little adventurers this week. From strawberry ice cream all the way to cookie flavour, we explored as many flavours as possible, “WHO WANTS AN ICE CREAM?” Could be heard from the other side of our base camp, as we attempted to sell them to purchase more cones!

We watched on in interest on Tuesday, as we saw some of the Ranger’s cherry-pickers go racing past - shortly after, we heard the sound of chopping in the distance. This lead to questions from the group around what the new loud sounds were for, so we explained the dangers of some trees in the Forest, and by chopping down some dead branches, the Rangers are keeping everyone safe!

The weather forecast looks fantastic, and long may it continue, as we look forward to more forest adventures next week!
