Wimbledon - A Wooden House Mystery!

The forest has shown us its first signs of spring this week! We have all enjoyed seeing all the glorious new additions to the forest as the welcome change of season brought sun, daffodils, and lots of birds!

We started off the week by entering the forest to find a tremendous house that had been left for us to discover! We started to try and solve the mystery of who might have left this for us to find! Out little explorers noticed that a book had been left, and they asked an educator to read it to them to search if there were any clues inside! Unfortunately, there was not ... then we noticed that each part of the house was labelled by someone who had assembled it in the forest!

We then used the house to create birthday parties for our educators! Cakes were made, followed by decorations and we now have our own bunting to make the house look homely and warm! Towards the end of the week, we used sandpaper to ensure that all areas were smooth, our little adventurers put a tool work glove on their helping hand before choosing which texture sandpaper they wanted. Some chose the fine grit and realised that it did not give the same effect as for those that chose the coarse grit. The house has taken part in many roleplays this week, including also being used as part of the three little pigs and the big bad Wolf story, in replacement of the brick house. The children chose where each of the other houses would be, before returning to the ‘brick’ house to be safe from the big bad wolf. The wolf realised there was no chimney so tried to use the window to come in!

Whilst having breaks from the house, our Little Forest Folk-ers got to use more of their tool work skills. They placed a glove on their working hand and grated chalk, before adding salt to this. Once this mixture was made, they used glue to make a pattern on paper to ensure the mixture would stick and made a beautiful multicoloured picture!

What a wonderful week we’ve had, we hope you all have a lovely long weekend and are wishing our sessional day children a wonderful couple of weeks away from the forest!
