Wimbledon - New Year, New Adventures!

We have had a lovely first week back after a great winter break. Our week has been filled with all of our Little Forest Folk-ers having a wonderful time informing their peers and educators of their winter and festive adventures!

Back in the forest, we have enjoyed identifying and exploring the changes that the weather brings to our site. We discovered a variety of different trees that had fallen during the high winds this week. We were able to identify and examine fungi and mushrooms that were growing on the trees, following our ‘no picking, no licking’ forest rule, the children ensured that they did not physically touch the mushrooms but used magnifying glasses to inspect. Our little explorers also used tweezers to turn the mushrooms over to look at the gills.

Following our theme of investigation, a group of children asked the educators to make them a scavenger hunt list, so that they could search for natural resources around the forest. This attracted more of our little adventurers to join in and they independently decided to add numbers to their list.

It’s been a lovely first week back in the forest with all the children enjoying sharing their stories and adventures! We look forward to having all of our sessional children join us next week for lots more fun!
