We’ve been bursting with excitement and now that it’s the Queen’s birthday and the official announcement day, we are absolutely delighted to finally share with you the news that Little Forest Folk has been given the royal seal of approval.
Following our being selected by Tatler as being one of the finest nurseries in the nation last month, we are now delighted to share with you an article written about Little Forest Folk by a journalist who visited us in our Wimbledon setting a few weeks ago.
Well, this weekend was the long awaited Nursery World Awards! It was a fabulous event and we were delighted to be recognised in such a large industry such as the early years to be one of the industry leaders.
‘Wouldn’t we all secretly like to be Little Forest Folk?' We are incredibly excited and proud to be included once again in the prestigious annual Tatler Nurseries Guide.
As we walked across the field along the wild banks the children have been investigating the ever changing wildlife that can be found amongst the nettles, cow parsley and green alkanet.
This week we have made full use of Chiswick House and Gardens with a wide range of activities and adventure walks; from exploring the secret path by the waterfall to the cricket field for games and races.
Some of our intrepid little adventurers have returned from Little Forest Folk Tuscany and have been excitedly telling others of the things they had done.
Laughter, happiness and fun have filled the air this week at Little Forest Folk Wandsworth. As the weeks roll on, a real sense of family and connection has connected the group into the tight unit that they are.
What a practical week it has been for our Little Forest Folk-ers. Almost every day we have had different tools out for the children to use, all in the preparation of their own toys!
We have been exploring more of Chiswick House and Gardens this week. The children have enjoyed long walks into the forest every morning and stopping to spend some time at the rolling hill and fish pond.
There has been a strong experimental element in the forest this week. We’ve had erupting volcanos, blasting space rockets, a wormery and forming crystallisations.
The forest has been as wild as ever this week! We have been blessed with some lovely days that warmed us up and allowed the children to really get into some water play.
If you go down to the woods today, you’re in for a big surprise. The Little Forest Folk-ers transformed themselves this week into a complete menagerie of different animals using masks, which produced some wonderful play and encouragement to try new things.
What a busy week in the forest. We have been enjoying a wide range of books, with The Rainbow Fish being a particular favourite. The fish sharing his scales led to some interesting conversations about helping our friends and being kind.
It has been lovely to welcome back all of our friends from half term this week and as well as doing regular climbing, exploring and foraging, we have been using some new materials on site which the children have really enjoyed getting their fingers stuck into…literally.
We’ve had a lovely week filled with lots of forest school activities. One activity, the children have continued to enjoy and build upon, quite literally, was the construction of mini parks.
The children have been super busy this week showing a new kind of creativity through tool work. The children used the bow saw to cut their own log slices, choosing the log to cut and the length to cut it.
This week our holiday camp has seen the introduction of some new tools, some fantastic extended role-play and some palaeontologists at work! We also had all different kinds of weather including some very exciting thunder and lightning!
This week we have been enjoying poems with the children and Amie thought it would be only right to create a wonderful poem for our newsletter this week!
What an adventurous week we’ve had in the forest! Every day has seen groups going out to explore the wider forest and coming back with tales of amazing sites and wondrous discoveries. One group went in search of dinosaurs and they were in for a real treat.
