This week’s focus has been expressive art and design, which has sparked lots of creativity and excitement in the forest at Little Forest Folk Morden. We kicked things off with large scale self-portraits. The children saw their photos taped onto big sheets of paper and were invited to draw the rest of their bodies. It was wonderful to see the colours they chose to represent themselves and how uniquely each child approached the activity. 🌈After all that adventure everyone cooled down with some waterplay under the hose and ran and splashed under misty rainbows together.
Fulham - 🌿 🗺️ A Week of Magic, Adventure & Wonder 🦄 🧚
Chiswick - Joyful Music and Wonderful Maths in the Forest!
We began with a joyful music session, where children explored a variety of instruments. From shaking and tapping to listening and moving they expressed themselves freely while developing rhythm, coordination and confidence.
Out in the forest some of the children took part in an engaging letter activity, writing and placing letters around the forest where they were working collaboratively.
Winkworth - Celebrating World Health Day Little Forest Folk Doctors & Nurses
Wimbledon Village - Springtime Bumble Bees & the Egg and Spoon Race
Wimbledon - Education About Bees & How We Can Help The!
We learnt what we can do to help the bees! Earlier this year, we already planted some wildflower seeds to help create habitats for them and this week, we focused on water and a bee hotel for mining bees. We gathered stones on our adventures to and from the car park, and placed them in a shallow dish. Here we then poured water into the dish so the bees could drink and wash themselves.
Twickenham - Working With Wood, Nails & Wool
We have had some great tool time too. This week we’ve been learning how to use a hammer to knock in nails. We had small blocks of wood and as we knocked each nail in we had to watch out for our thumbs and fingers. Once we had knocked in 3, 4, 5 nails we then chose a beautiful length of wool to attach to one nail and then we enjoyed wrapping the wool around all of our nails creating nail art to take home.
Putney Heath - Easter Arts & Crafts & Sensory Play
The children took part in several beautiful Easter crafts. They carefully cut and painted ducks, mixing yellow, white and brown paints to design their own unique chicks. Once the paint had dried, they finished their creations by adding colourful feathers, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. These activities gave them the chance to practise their cutting, painting and fine motor skills while expressing their creativity.
Morden - ⭐️ Buzzing with Holiday Camp Excitement
This week of holiday camp has been so fun! Everyone was buzzing with excitement after their Easter Holiday weekend and we kicked the week off with adventure walks up to Cannon Hill Common where we played parachute games, smelled tulips and visited 5 new little ducklings in the pond! After all that adventure everyone cooled down with some waterplay under the hose and ran and splashed under misty rainbows together.
Fulham - 💛 Holiday Camp Round up Full of Blossom and Bloom
Such a beautiful round up to an amazing Holiday Camp. We’ve been blessed with glorious sunny weather, the Walled Garden beginning to bloom and blossom and as usual we’ve had a great bunch of campers who have brought new energy to our Fulham camp 🏕️ Here’s some of the fun we have been up to this week:balancing between logs and crossing different sizes of planks. While the little ones used the tunnel as their secret and cosy rabbit hole home, the oldest enjoyed playing Jenga for many turns!🥚🌼🐰
Chiswick - A Lush Sunny Week, Sunglasses on Making the Most of Outdoor Life!
Winkworth - Bluebells, Blossom and Woodpeckers Galore!

The children have had lots of opportunities to develop their fine and gross motor skills with activities out in the forest and back at the cottage too.
Wimbledon Village -Easter Fun and an Egg and Spoon Race
Easter fun has been the theme this week! We started the week by saying goodbye to one of our families, who are relocating. They kindly gifted us some bird feeders, so we decided to go on an adventure walk on the child’s last day to find places to hang these special gifts up! Children enjoyed finding high-up places for them and we have said we will go back and check how the feeders are doing when we next go out on a walk!
On Tuesday, Shahana got the children to line up, as it was time for our egg and spoon race!
Wimbledon - Peter Pan and the Pirates are Back!
Twickenham - Bunny Masks for Old Friends and New!
Putney Heath - Easter Themed Activity in the Forest
Morden - ⭐️ Water, Air and Sunlight!” 🎶
We made our own paper flowers, carefully folded their petals and then placed them in water to watch them slowly open up like real blossoms 🌸 It was such a magical moment! During this, we also learned about photosynthesis and even picked up a new song: “If you want to know how a plant grows, it takes water, air and sunlight!” 🎶
Fulham - 💛 Our Little Bunnies and an Easter Obstacle Course
We had a Rabbit tunnel consisting of two climbing frames made out of pallets and a hula-hoop with two long bunny ears. This was part of our challenging Easter obstacle course. Our little bunnies had lots of fun climbing, going down the rabbit hole through the hula-hoop and the pile of tires, balancing between logs and crossing different sizes of planks. While the little ones used the tunnel as their secret and cosy rabbit hole home, the oldest enjoyed playing Jenga for many turns!🥚🌼🐰
Chiswick - Bow Saws, Palm Drills to Wooden Spinners
This week, we placed a strong focus on tool work, building on the children’s skills and confidence. The children had the opportunity to use bow saws and palm drills, creating their very own wooden spinners - this was a big highlight and they were incredibly proud of their creations! It was also a fantastic continuation of last week’s work, where we practiced splitting wood using mallets.
